(1) If you still have gtk-3.6.0, download the older version from here: [link]
(2) Ubuntu users should disable "overlay-scrollbar" before using this theme, otherwise they might see blackened widget areas. See [link]
(3) Debian users may have to patch Cairo with 'server_side_gradients.patch' (bug #616308), which is included in other distros.
(4) Read the file "README" in the theme folder for tips on Sushi and gnome-tweak-tool-3.6.
(5) You won't need the source package unless you want to modify the theme or make a deb or rpm package from it.
(6) Because GTK3 still has its limitations in handling of transparent bg colors, during drag-n-drop, dragged widgets with transparent bg colors are temporarily darkened until dropped. Apart from this minor issue, if you've found any problem with the latest version of the theme (at dA), please report it here. Thanks in advance!
Recent changes:
Jan 23 2013 ----------- Updated for unexpected changes in GTK+-3.6.4 and Adwaita-3.6.2.
Mar 18 2013 ----------- Added support for Dash-to-Dock.
Thank you for reporting that problem. Here, with Gnome 3.6.2, Evolution 3.6.3 and GTK+-3.6.4, there isn't such an issue: the popups are dark but the texts are white and visible.
The reason you see such problems is that you use Remix and Gnome lacks backward compatibility. It's a bad habit of the Gnome developers that they usually break many things, which used to work with a previous version. I can do nothing except waiting for the next stable version of Gnome and changing the theme according to the new API.
Thanks for looking into this. I have used different versions of Gnome but the more pure versions, i.e.: Fedora, have more issues than the Remix version. Fedora crashes the gnome shell constantly when extensions are in use. That said, Remix appears has been the most bug free version of Gnome 3.6 that I have found thus far. Any other recommendations are welcome.
Sorry, I mistook Remix with an unstable version of Ubuntu; I thought it uses Ubuntu Raring repository. Now, what are the GTK+ and Evolution versions you use? The main download link on this page is for GTK+-3.6.4 (and Evolution 3.6.3 -- the latest for Gnome 3.6). If you have GTK+ 3.6.0, please download the theme from the link in the Note (1) above.
I am using GTK 3.6 and Evolution 3.6.2. However, I thought that I had installed the GTK 3.6 version but to make sure I reinstalled. Still have the same issue. I did fix it though. In the settings.ini file you need to change ntooltip_bg_color from 000000 to #A9A9A9. That changes the background to gray and makes the text visible. Thanks for you assistance.
That could be a workaround, although tootips are intended to be white on black, as they're here. Since you see that issue only in Evolution and just in one of its components, it should be related to an Ubuntu patch. I compared the Ubuntu patches for Evolution with those of other distros and found them to be very different.
Can you please make Gnomishlight/dark Grey/Stone/Black, whatever darkish colour exists; I never had a theme which adapted that perfectly to my dozens of different linux apps. It's incredible !
Sorry about my previous reply; I thought you meant the icons.
I migrated to KDE, so I won't make another GTK+ theme. However, I'll maintain GnomishDark, GnomishGray and GnomishBeige. Now I'm working on KDE ports of the nouveGnome icon sets.
